Our motto: The media is not biased. Something needs mass before you can calculate its trajectory.

Liberal Media Elite is a foul-mouthed political blog from America’s Heartland. Since we’re from the Midwest—the Heartland, that is—we have considerable moral weight. Because Midwesterners are the simple, yet trustworthy and moral, idiots savant of the American imagination. It’s true. Look it up.

LME is written by four people: Matthew, Rik, Natascha and Bill. The opinions written by any one of them don’t reflect their future employability and isn’t likely to reflect the opinions of the other three.

Matthew is a Web designer and playwright. He has no formal tertiary education and likes to think of politics as a more dire version of pop culture. Because, when you think about it, George Bush is just Paris Hilton with the bomb. Also, W’s sex tapes are on Betamax.

Rik is a storyteller and trained economist. We rely on him to tell funny stories about his road trips, explain the federal budget and divide up the bar bill accurately at the end of the evening. He has successfully taught the rest of us the difference between “y’all” and “all y’all.”

Natascha is a Franco-German-American hybrid, and has more government-issued IDs than the rest of us combined. She has masters degrees in history and political science from the University of Heidelberg and is currently enrolled in grad school (again).

Bill is a theater technician and can often be seen volunteering for netroots campaigns with sawdust in his hair. He also goes fishing a lot.

Brian went to high school with Matthew. They talked politics a lot in art class; Brian was a Teen Age Republican (the chair, in fact) and Matthew used to go to Teen Democrats’ Camp. It wasn’t until many, many years later that Brian would contact Matthew to say he had become a liberal Democrat and had worked both in the media and at the Minnesota legislature. Matthew felt vindicated.
